We started our WW2 topic by imagining that we were children living during this time. We closed our eyes and imagined that we were going to the greengrocers to buy an orange (something we hadn’t seen for a while!). Suddenly, an air raid siren sounded so we had to find shelter! We went to the nearest house and knocked on the door. There was no answer so we went inside…..
We found a kitchen table with some places set up….
We tried to decide which person sat a which place at the table by using what they had left in their space as clues.
Some of the children have brought in some fascinating artifacts from war-time such as binoculars, a camera, coins and food wrappers.
We have also produced some fantastic pieces of art, based on the picture ‘St Paul’s Survives’ by Herbert Mason. We used black card and traced around a silhouette of the buildings using chalk – it was messy but fun!
