Parent-Governor Elections

Some potential candidates for the school governor position have informed us that they didn’t have the opportunity to complete the paperwork in the allocated deadline, therefore we have extended the date for nominations until 3.30pm on the 3rd December for those still wishing to be considered for the position.

The parent-governor position is in addition to the co-opted governor vacancy.

The parent-governor will work with as part of a team of governors as a representative of the parent voice. They play a key role in supporting the school team to make effective decisions, that are in the best interest of the school, the children and the community.

The three key roles of the Governing Body are:silhouette of a hand posting a paper into a voting box

  • To provide a strategic view
  • To act as a critical friend
  • To ensure accountability

The governing body meets in full three times a year. Each governor sits on either the Standards Committee (with a focus on teaching & learning, behaviour and welfare) or Resources Committee (with a focus on finance, buildings, safety and physical resources). These committees meet six times a year.  Governors are available to speak with at Parents’ Evenings and the Parent Forums.

For more information about the role of the Governing body, do have a look at our Meet the Governors page or contact the school office by phone: 01453 832382 or email: admin2@nailsworth.gloucs.sch.uk

It is important that the parents and carers of our children have a say in how the school run. Do get your nominations in and don’t forget, you can nominate yourself!
