Fit and Healthy!

Information about PE

Our school is situated in large grounds and children are supported to take full advantage of this, using our Multi-Use-Games-Area, netball and football pitches as well as accessing the nature garden and large field. Children are supported to be physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness and develops their values of fairness, respect and perseverance. Children participate in unique experiences, such as our whole school triathlon in PE lessons. Forest Green Rovers is situated next to the school and the opportunity to work with players and coaches is embraced.

In KS2 we work with Sportily to deliver ActiveRE – exploring RE through sport with games linked to Christian stories.

Our Forest School provision ensures all children enjoy outdoor activity, fun and learning.

You can find specific information about our PE curriculum here: PE Curriculum

Clubs include Football, Netball, Rugby, Cross Country Running, Gymnastics, Hockey, Athletics, Cricket, Table Tennis, Martial Arts, Fencing, Basketball, Trampolining, Ballet, Yoga and Rounders.

Children in KS2 have the opportunity to join sports teams and we regularly play inter-school and inter-county matches. We are proud to regularly be able to celebrate our children’s sporting achievements with medals, trophies and colours to be worn on school uniforms.

Residential Trips

In Years 5 and 6, children enjoy sports activity-based residential trips (PGL) where they can participate in kayaking, fencing, climbing, the giant swing, zip wires, challenge tunnels, Jacob’s ladder and more!

Sporting Events

Children participate in a wide variety of local inter-sports events, dates of which can be found in the school calendar, available on this page.

Sports Day

At the end of the summer term, all year groups take part in sports day on the school field and running track.  This is always a fabulous family day out with tea and scones and family picnics on the field so pop it in your diary.

Triathlon

We hold two triathlon events annually – one for years 3 and 4, one for years 5 and 6.

Swimming Gala

In Key Stage 2, children take part in our school swimming gala.

Awards Evening

At the end of every year we celebrate achievement at the Arts and Sports Awards evening presenting well earned trophies, in a host of categories.

Forest Green Rovers

We are fortunate to be located right next to Forest Green Rovers Football Club. The FGR Academy are frequent visitors at school, encouraging and inspiring our children in the class room and on the football pitch. Each year, we nominate one or two of our pupils to become FGR Ambassadors for a season, affording the opportunity to be involved at matches selling programmes, being a ball boy/girl and even parading on with the players at the start of big games. We often visit the stadium with class groups to learn more about the club, their ecological ethos or to take part in vegan cookery sessions!
