Beau is a Toy Poodle who lives with Mrs Ostle. He loves long walks, cuddles, toys and treats! Beau enjoys coming into school to see the children and staff (especially Mrs Wingfield, who keeps a secret stash of treats especially for Beau!). He chills for the much of the day in the school office.

Beau’s main role at school is to work with children on a one to one basis and help those children who have been bullied, suffering with emotional issues, going through upsetting/difficult times or even scared/phobic of dogs. He brings much joy and help to all the children he meets. Children who struggle with social interaction can find a reassuring friend in a Beau. His presence has a calming effect on the children. Research studies in both Britain and America have concluded that having a dog in a school classroom can have many positive benefits – these include help to calm children down, improve academic achievement, motivate those children who are often not that attentive, teach responsibility and encourage children to respect all life. It has been shown that when classmates share the affection and care of a ‘class’ dog, a bond forms among the classmates and strengthens their team ethics.
We love having Beau at school, he is an incredibly valued member of our team and is also very, very cute!!
We do have a policy with regards to our school dog and you can read it here: School Dog Policy

Together we rise, we learn, we love, abundantly.
