Nailsworth Recreation Centre

The Nailsworth Recreation Centre is run by Nailsworth Primary School for the benefit of the Nailsworth community.

Outside school hours, the school becomes The Nailsworth Recreation Centre: the only purpose-built, public recreation facility in town. The centre is available for clubs, businesses and organisations to provide a wide range of sport, leisure and dance activities and events, using our fantastic facilities.

Members of the public can benefit through attending classes, being a member of a club or organisation, or through attending an event.

The Centre boasts a full-size gym that can be used for badminton, basketball, table tennis and many other sport and leisure activities.

The Gym has high level windows, high quality LED lighting and is accessed directly though the male and female changing rooms.

The floor is marked for basketball, badminton and football. There are two fixed basketball hoops.

Main Hall

This is the largest capacity hall in The Centre with a recently refurbished stage area. The hall has glass doors along its length which open onto the outside areas and also feature heavy red curtains.

There is disabled access directly from the car park, and lift access via the main door.

The Main Hall is suitable for films, exhibitions, performances, functions and various sports activities. The floor is marked for badminton. Inflatables are permitted provided the Hirer arranges adequate liability insurance. Additional charges may apply.

MUGA (Multi-Use Games Area)

A fantastic MUGA provides a fenced and floodlit AstroTurf area ideal for football, hockey, netball, rugby and many other sports.

The large field is well maintained, fenced and used as a training pitch for Forest Green Rovers FC!

Adjoining the Main Hall is well-equipped, large, up-to-date commercial kitchen.

The Kitchen contains all the equipment you would expect from a functioning school kitchen – ovens, hobs, water boiler and fridge freezers.

The Kitchen has a servery/bar that opens onto the back of the Main Hall.

There is off-street parking for 40 cars, adjacent to the centre entrance, within the school grounds, off Nympsfield Road. There is a second car park adjacent for 20 cars if necessary.

How to find us

Sat Nav users – please use the postcode GL6 0ET, but do not let your sat nav take you off Nympsfield Road – follow the Nailsworth Primary School and Forest Green Rovers signs.  You are looking for Nailsworth Primary School’s second car park entrance, after the roundabout at The Arkell Centre and before you reach the Forest Green Rovers Football Club mini roundabout (coming up the hill from the town centre, the centre is on the left).
From Stroud direction, take A46 to Nailsworth and turn right up Spring Hill at the mini roundabout, with the clocktower on the left and Blushes salon on the right.
From the Bath direction, take A46 to Nailsworth and after the zebra crossing turn left up Spring Hill at the mini roundabout near the clocktower, with Williams Kitchen on the left.
From Minchinhampton direction, travel down the ‘W’, go straight over at the mini roundabout with the clocktower on the right, and up Spring Hill. Spring Hill becomes Nympsfield Road part way up. Go straight up the hill, over the small roundabout the Arkell Centre that is on the left and Norton Wood on your right.  We are just up from here on the left hand side.  If you reach the Forest Green Rovers mini roundabout, you have passed us – go around the mini roundabout and come back!
